Aspire is delighted to announce that inspirational endurance swimmer Adam Walker will be the guest speaker at its Swimming Celebration Evening on Saturday 14th November at the Hilton Hotel in Watford.

Adam is the only British person to have swum the Ocean’s 7 Challenge - the seven toughest long distance open water swims in the world - and the second person to complete all seven swims on his first attempt.  Adam has some fantastic stories to tell about his adventures, including some dicey encounters with dolphins, jellyfish and sharks!

Aspire is renowned for its open water swimming events, from the Solent, Loch Ness and Night Swims, to relay teams swimming the English Channel.  2015 marks a particularly special year for Aspire as the combined fundraising of its Channel swimmers since 2009 has broken the half a million pound mark.   When other open water swims are taken into account, that figure is close to three quarters of a million.  For those who prefer to swim in a swimming pool, Aspire’s largest swimming event, the Aspire Channel Swim, encourages people to swim the length of the Channel (22 miles) in their local pool over a 12 week period from September to December.

Brian Carlin, CEO of Aspire, comments: “We are delighted to be holding our Swimming Celebration Evening so that we can recognise the successes of all of our swimmers over the years.  Every eight hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury.  Aspire provides practical help to those affected, helping them move from injury to independence.  We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of our fantastic swimmers and the personal challenges they undertake, whether they have swum a mile at a Great Swim or solo across the Channel.”

Everyone is welcome, so if you are keen on hearing Adam Walker speak or if you are interested in swimming with Aspire, please book your place today.

Tickets for the event cost £35, which includes a full three course meal and a glass of bucks fizz on arrival.
